Exceptional Golf, Views and Conditioning!

At Poplar Ridge the land itself was already a natural golf course site when we discovered it. Being mindful of the land, designers were able to lay the course out in such a way, only moving enough dirt to build up the features of the course. By utilizing the existing rolling hills, meadows and bodies of water and stunning views of the surrounding countryside, a course was created that golfers of all abilities will truly enjoy.

Poplar_Ridge9.jpg          The course plays 6,642 yards from the back tees but there is ample opportunity to test your skills from two shorter sets of tees. The course contains a well-balanced mixture of open links style and wooded parkland holes. There are lots of changes in elevation and abundant water and wildlife to enhance your playing experience and test your skills. In short, you will enjoy an aesthetically pleasing yet challenging round.

Bookended at 1 and 18, by two long par fives, playing, 600 yards the other 16 holes offer plenty of shorter, risk reward holes, drivable par 4's, changes in elevation, doglegs and lakes. The course is a thinker's course, one where the strategic approach will produce better results than mere length off the tee. You'll have to hit it both ways off the tee to leave yourself with the best approach to the green and you'll need a deft touch on the greens to get the most from your round. But, no matter how good or bad your game may be on any given day at Poplar Ridge you'll always delight in the magnificent vistas and natural wildlife that surrounds you.

Championship Playing Conditions

You'll find the course in excellent championship condition, as is our extensive practice facility, complete with range, short game area and putting green, on which to hone your skills. Seed blends were chosen for all playing surfaces that offer the turf genetic diversity which helps to, increased disease resistance, reduced water use, reduced fertility and reduced chemical inputs.

The greens were seeded to 50% Mackenzie and 50% Tyee bentgrass. Together these two varieties provide a putting surface that rolls smooth and true while offering some resistance to poa annuo invasion due to the aggrepsive growth habit, increased wear tolerance and disease resistance characteristics of bent grasses. Fairways, roughs, and surrounds are a blend of 4 different dwarf type bluegrasses and 2 types of fescues. Not only do these help to reduce are environmental impact but they "play" well too. Your ball will "perch" on the fairways here allowing for crisp shots into the green itself!

We golf as early as April. Plus, we benefit from the long days during the golf season, golfing from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. in June and July.
